The Summer Personal Progress Challenge

The Summer Personal Progress Challenge

Complete the Personal Progress Program in its entirety over the course of twelve weeks!
The idea of doing the entire Personal Progress Program over a single summer may seem ridiculous, but in reality is entirely doable! Personal Progress is all about building small, lasting habits that will help you grow spiritually, and to spend an entire summer focused on Personal Progress will aid you in your personal spiritual progression and help you solidify those habits.

The Summer Personal Progress Challenge lays out a week by week schedule for you to complete. Initially it may appear overwhelming, but the majority of Personal Progress experiences can be completed in under an hour. The Personal Progress Helper blog will be posting weekly goals, and participants will be encouraged to share their progress through social media, using the hashtag #PersonalProgressChallenge.

This idea has been in my mind for several months, but I would love to credit 12 Weeks of Progress as inspiration, because it is what catapulted me into finishing the planning of this, plus it's super amazing. 12 Weeks of Progress is incredibly similar to the Summer Personal Progress Challenge, with emphasis placed on different parts of the program. It was created by an amazing Laurel in Utah, and I highly recommend that you check it out and consider it as another option.

The Summer Personal Progress Challenge

The Summer Personal Progress Challenge is entirely adaptable. Many young women have already partially completed the program, in which case they can customize the schedule to fit their individual needs. It includes all seven experience options in each value, when only six need be completed, so as to let young women choose which to complete. The only exception is Knowledge #7, which can be completed the week following Girls Camp.

For older young women who have already completed the program, use this opportunity to do the program over again, especially as you prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.
Leaders are invited to participate, too! The requirements for leaders to complete Personal Progress vary in some ways, but this challenge can be adapted for those as well. Leaders are strongly encourages to work with their young women in the challenge, as it will require regularly counseling and discussing.

The projects are spaced out so as to complete them in approximately three weeks (the exception being Virtue) and overlapping with other projects, but again, that can adapted. They are scheduled so that you can finish the project after completing the other requirements, but in most cases starting the project before completing all the experiences. Discuss this with your parents or leaders beforehand, and adapt it appropriately. Some may opt to forego all projects over the Summer. It is very strongly encouraged that you plan out all of your projects ahead of time, including doing minimal preparations, so that you can appropriately execute them in the scheduled amount of time. For inspiration, see the lists of PROJECT IDEAS provided by The Personal Progress Helper, and most importantly pray for inspiration.

It is up to you to decide when to start the challenge, but The Personal Progress Helper will be officially starting the challenge on June 14th, finishing 12 weeks later on September 6th. Weekly goals will be posted on the preceding Saturdays, at 12:00AM PST. In addition to outlining the weekly goals, there will be optional additional challenges that will involve sharing Personal Progress through social media and add to young women's experience.

I genuinely hope that young women will find this challenge as a valuable resource to help them complete the Personal Progress Program. It has the power to change lives and is worth every effort put into it.
